Cheran Arts and Science College, one of the top MSW colleges in Tamilnadu, started the Department of Social Work in 2003. The college offers a 2 year Master of Social Work (MSW) degree to help students become professionals in helping others and building a better society.

Duration and Structure

Duration

The MSW program is a 2-year postgraduate course. Each year is divided into two semesters, making a total of four semesters.

Specializations Offered

Students can choose from three major areas:

  • Human Resource Management (HRM)
  • Medical and Psychiatric Social Work
  • Community Development

These specializations help students gain skills in working with people in hospitals, companies, and rural areas.

Eligibility Criteria

To join the MSW course, you must:

  • Have a Bachelor’s degree (3 or 4 years) in any field from a recognized university.
  • Have at least 50% marks overall in your degree.
  • Backgrounds like B.A., B.Sc., BBA, BCA, or B.S.W. are preferred.

The department admits 36 students every year. Limited seats ensure better attention and personal guidance from faculty members.
